Dale and Bumgardner Payroll. French Canadian teamster, John LaValle, was born in Canada in 1850 and moved to the U.S. in 1862. His home was Centerville, Minnesota and he was only in St. Paul briefly during the Capitol construction.

1899 City Directory. French Canadian August Curran (or Currin) was born 1838 and came to the U.S. in 1846. He worked on the Capitol as a blacksmith and his son worked as a laborer.

Draughtsman. The 1899 City Directory says Louis died on Oct. 25, 1898 at age 17. He was the son of Joseph Bourgeault, the supervisor of the stonecutting. Louis helped his father in the office.
