Walter P. Butler, son of Walter Butler, was born in Saint Paul on November 29, 1892. He attended St. Thomas College (now University of St. Thomas, Saint Paul, Minnesota) and he served in the First World War in France. He married twice, first to Rose Steinberg in March, 1915 and secondly to Zena Roeberg, in January 1927. He had no children.
