This is an excerpt from a memoir written by Joseph Bourgeault, a stonecutting supervisor, who worked on the Capitol building. The second page of the document gives a detailed glimpse of how a craftsmen worked alone and in groups to shape and set the structure's granite and marble blocks.
The handwritten note at the top of the memoir indicates that it was written in 1940. The second date, October 21, 1942 and place, Sait Boniface, may indicate when and where the memoir was typed or when it was donated to an archive. Saitn Boniface is a Franco-Manitoban neighborhood in Winnipeg or may refer to l'Université de Saint-Boniface and its archive.
