1904 City Directory and Capitol Staff.. Martin Mierva was born in 1845 in Poland and emigrated in 1870. He worked on the Capitol as a laborer and is also listed as a janitor at the new building in February of 1905. He reported in the 1920 Census that he was working as a laborer for the City at the age of 77. He and his wife, Mary, raised a large family in this house, (which was later torn down for the freeway), and was still living here in 1930 when he was 90 years old.
