1902 City Directory. John Peterson worked as an engineer on the Capitol.

1903 City Directory. Moritz Johnson worked on the Capitol as an engineer.

1904-1905 Payroll. Engineer Charles Anderson listed Butler Bros. as his employer in the 1904 City Directory and is in the Payroll records.

1897 Grant Payroll and 1900 Census. George Battrelle was born in West Virginia in 1854 and came to Minnesota with his wife and son in 1891. He worked for George Grant as an engineer. By 1910 he had moved to Memphis.

1902 City Directory and Payroll. Leroy Heylman, son of Charles Heylman went to work there as a "toolboy" at the age of 15 in 1903. Charles is found in a April 27, 1902 Payroll for extra work when he was part of a select crew that spent that day, a Sunday, setting the statues. They both worked as engineers for their entire lives in St. Paul and raised families here. I believe their descendants still live in the area.

1902 City Directory and Payroll. Charles Heylman (or Hyleman) was born in Wisconsin in 1864 and moved to Minnesota in 1884. He worked an engineer on the Capitol.

Newspaper accounts and 1900 Census. In May of 1899 Andrew's son, Vernon, while working as a fireman with his father on a derrick, fell 75 feet and was nearly killed. Only 19 at the time, Vernon was born in Minnesota in 1880 and was working as a fireman with his father engineer Andrew Cole. Vernon went on to work for the Minneapolis Post Office for many years.

Louis O. Beaudet was born in Minnesota to French-Canadian parents in 1865. He lived in the village of Mendota across the Mississippi River from St. Paul and worked on the Capitol as a hoisting engineer. Beaudet lived in Mendota for many years where he and his wife raised a family as he worked as a hoisting engineer. He died there in 1937.

1901 City Directory. Hoisting engineer, Charles E. Anderson was born in Sweden in 1858 and emigrated in 1870.
