Ironworkers erect and dismantle the metal structural framework of buildings, bridges, and other large buildings and infrastructure. This occupation has it’s roots in the development of iron parts, construction cranes, and the design of multi-level buildings and bridges in the mid-19th century. The Capitol building has a metal framework and this website contains several photographs of ironworkers working on the construction. The homepage of this website features a photograph of ironworkers working on the capitol dome.
