The photo is from the November 1903 issue of The Stone Cutters' Journal. Hugo Reich (1869-1936) was a union activist and served as president of the Union Local, member of the Executive Board of the Journeyman Stone Cutters of North America, as well as delegate to the 1902 North American Stone Cutters' convention. He was born in Germany, came to America in 1882, and lived in Duluth but moved to St. Paul in 1895. By 1910 he had moved on to Indiana and he died in Cook County, Illinois in 1936.
